The good news is yes! Anti aging is possible.
The human body is cleverly designed to heal and repair itself with the aid of proper nutrition. In order to fulfill this seemingly impossible task the body requires two vital elements - energy and raw materials. These two basic requirements are essential to maintain proper functioning of the cells. The body is made up of cells and all are living, but die and replace themselves at various intervals. In order to understand the anti aging concept, we need to understand that when a cell replaces itself it has three options:
Option 1
A cell may replace itself with a weaker cell. A cell will do this if it hasn't had the right nutrition available to it. In effect, it can not generate a new, healthy cell to replace itself because it has not had the right food available during its life. This process is called degeneration.
Option 2
A cell can replace itself with a cell which is just the same as itself. This means that the body has no capacity to improve itself. In other words, you have a chronic condition.
Option 3
The cell has the ability to replace itself with a stronger and better cell. This will happen only if the cell has an abundance of energy and the right raw materials available to it. This process is called regeneration.
Many of the foods that we eat, even some of the ones we think are good for us, may be responsible for causing degeneration - we see the results as the effects of aging. There are a number of foods to avoid if you wish to stop degeneration, and other foods to include in your diet which will aid regeneration.
Foods and activities which may increase degeneration and aging include:
- Smoking Cigarettes
- High levels of carbohydrate
- Sugar
- Caffeine - Including Tea, Coffee, chocolate, cola, chuppa chups
- White flour
- Microwaved food
- Chemicals such as fluoride
- Artificial sweeteners (especially aspartame / nutrasweet)
- Alcohol
- Processed foods
- Artificial Colorings
- Additives including Monosodium glutamate (MSG)
- Preserved meats
- Deep fried foods including Chips or French fries
Foods and activities which may help Regeneration and Anti Aging include:
- Raw Fruits, especially berries
- Raw vegetables, especially sprouts and green leafy vegetables
- Raw Fruit and vegetables especially sprouts and green leafy vegetables
- Lentils
- Beans that have been soaked for 8 hours. (That is, 'sprouted'. This makes them alkaline)
- Brown rice that has been soaked for 22 hours. This makes it alkaline
- Organic Cottage cheese and yogurt.
- Wheatgrass juice
- Barley greens
- Aloe vera
- Antioxidants (eg vitamin C, vitamin E, pycnogenols, coenzyme Q10)
- Olive oil
- Foods with omega 3 fatty acids (eg flaxseed oil)
- Foods with omega 4 & 5 fatty acids (eg evening primrose and fish oil)
and perhaps the most important of all:
- Gentle sunlight (stimulates the natural production of vitamin D)
- Gentle exercise.
- A good night's sleep every night. This is very important. Lack of sleep has a cumulative effect on the body.
